What is bile duct obstruction?

Bile duct obstruction is a blockage in the tubes that carry bile from the liver to the gallbladder and small intestine. The blockage can cause bile to build up in the liver resulting in jaundice (yellow color of the skin) due to the increasing levels of bilirubin in the blood.
