What is peripheral retinal degeneration?

Peripheral retinal degenerations usually start in the mid peripheral retina of the eye, in an area surrounding the central retina. Later during the course of the changes peripheral retina may lose its function. Eventually only the central retina functions, the person has tunnel vision.
